Disadvantages Morningscore

The writing in the dashboard is very nice, but for me it is a bit “thin”, both in the normal and in the dark theme.

The keyword rank tracker does not have many sophisticated functions yet, but it is sufficient for a simple tracking of your keywords.

It is (still) missing important key figures for the keyword research especially for the keyword analysis

Morningscore says about itself that they want to make SEO easy and transparent with their software and that you can get started with the Morningscore SEO tool without much prior knowledge. In addition, Morningscore should answer the following 3 questions:

  • What is the value of my SEO work?
  • How did I achieve this value?
  • How do I achieve better results?

Whether that actually succeeds I want to show you based on my Morningscore experiences in this test.

The individual Morningscore SEO tools and functions

With Morningscore you can analyze your current keyword positions, your backlinks, your traffic and your website in depth as part of an SEO audit. This is complemented by very useful comparisons with your competitors.

With the Morningscore SEO tools, you can track your own SEO performance in clear and easy-to-understand diagrams and recognize a change for the positive or negative, but also create your own well-founded SEO strategy on this basis and a detailed analysis of the SEO strategy of the competition.

In addition, it provides a solid tool for keyword research and with the so-called “missions” a tool that I personally find outstanding, which suggests very concrete and individual SEO measures for your website.

Since this is data-driven and structured, it helps beginners in the SEO field to get an overview of which SEO measures you should implement next.

But also advanced SEOs can get structure back into their work through the Morningscore Missions, if they have lost the overview…

I think every SEO knows the feeling that sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees, right?

That’s why I think the Morningscore Missions are really a great thing.

Just like the eponymous Morningscore itself. The Morningscore shows you every month the exact value of your SEO measures (in €). This makes it easier for you to decide whether your SEO investments are worthwhile.

By comparing the values with your competitors, you get a clear overview of your SEO market share and your SEO performance. I haven’t found anything comparable in other SEO tools yet.

Let’s now take a deeper look at the individual SEO tools and my personal Morningscore experience

The Morningscore – The unique selling point

The Morningscore is a calculated metric that helps you with the SEO analysis across the entire tool. I haven’t seen this metric in this form in any other SEO tool so far. In my eyes, however, it is a very important to be able to evaluate your own SEO activities, and which you would otherwise only get after the corresponding manual calculation.

The Morningscore is the value of your SEO. It is calculated by looking at the performance of your keywords on Google.

Search Volume X Rank = Organic Traffic X CPC = Morningscore

If this seems confusing, let’s do the calculation in steps:

Search Volume X Rank = Organic Traffic

Organic Traffic X CPC = Morningscore

So your Morningscore is basically the amount of money you would spend on your traffic via Google Ads.

How does the calculation work in detail?

  • Search volume – This information comes from Morningscore data partners. This is an average of how many people search for this specific keyword each month.
  • Rank – Based on your position in the Google SERP, you get an average click through rate (CTR) on your page. If you rank #2, this number is 10%, which means 10% of all people searching for that keyword are coming to your site.
  • Traffic – By multiplying the search volume and your rank, we get an estimate of how many people are coming to your site each month from each specific keyword.
  • Now we take the Cost Per Click value for each keyword – this is the amount of money you would have to spend for EACH CLICK if you were to invest in Google Ads for the same amount of traffic
  • Next, we multiply your traffic by the CPC value – this gives us the TOTAL amount of money you would have to spend for all the clicks you get from that keyword each month.
  • Finally, the calculation is done for all your keywords, which ultimately generates your total Morningscore.

The Morningscore is very good for you to compare yourself with other companies in your industry. In the following, the Morningscore team has compiled the average score for some of the most common industries in an overview, so that you get an orientation whether your score is good or bad or in need of improvement.

The comparison with competitors

An important aspect in Morningscore is that almost all SEO tools in it include a comparison with competing sites. And this is a really great thing in my opinion.

Once you create it, it will compare your site with the competing ones. This is very handy as I personally find, because you always get an orientation with regard to your competition for all your SEO measures.

Here you can see for example the different Morningscores of 3 potential competitor websites, which I have created and with which I “fight” for one or the other keyword:

Keywords

Keywords Rank Tracker

In this section you decide which keywords you want to track based on their positions in the Google SERP. When you enter your keywords for the first time, Morningscore automatically finds all relevant data.

The following information is displayed in the dashboard:

  • Searches/Month: The “Searches/Mo” column shows you how often the keyword was searched in Google in the month.
  • Traffic/Month: In the “Traffic” column, you can see how many people come to your website in a month through keyword searches.
  • Rank: Your keyword “Rank” shows how high your website ranks on Google when people search for the keyword. For example, if you search for the word \”eimer\” and your website comes up as the first result, then your ranking is #1.
  • The estimated traffic per month
  • Cost-per-click (CPC)
  • Morningscore

At first glance, however, in addition to the tracking on mobile (in planning), the graphical presentations as with Mangools are also missing to make the analysis even easier. These are only available when the individual keyword is selected individually:

By the way, the data that Morningscore displays throughout the tool comes from its own sources on the one hand and from 6 data partners on the other.

These belong to the best companies in the industry. The data from the partners is not only aggregated, but also supplemented by Morningscore combining the best and most accurate metrics it finds. For example, the CPC amount about one of the partners comes directly from Google itself.

The keyword tool for keyword research

The keyword research tool is solid in my eyes. Just enter the keyword you want to research:

… and immediately get data about the search volume, the CPC, the maximum morningscore and a – in my opinion – rather inaccurate information about the difficulty to rank with this keyword.

This function also shows you related keywords and long tail keywords.

You can even increase the number of keywords displayed by adjusting the ad filters accordingly. In particular, set the sensitivity filter exactly to wide. The wider it is, the more keyword ideas you get (in the example keyword “keyword research” from 25 to 259):

It should be noted here that other tools like Answer The Public do this even better at this point though.

What I also miss with Morningscore are more in-depth key figures to perform a better keyword analysis, such as a more detailed keyword difficulty or the LPS, as the KWFinder from Mangools indicates. Also a SERP analysis displayed in KWFinder directly in the search, with suitable key figures such as DA, PA, etc. is missing here:

All in all, the keyword research tool from Morningscore is solid and rather suitable only for the entry to find suitable keyword ideas and analyze them based on a few metrics.

For in-depth analyses, other but also more expensive tools are better suited. Unfortunately, the very useful Morningscore is missing there again

The competition analysis in the Keyword Rank Tracker

With this display you get an overview of how your top keywords & those of the competition (sorted by Morningscore) rank. So you get a good overview of which keyword you should do something in terms of onpage optimization.

Backlinks

With the link tool of Morningscore you get a listing of all links, which the tool can find and which refer to your page. With “All Links” you get a list of all domains that link to you:

Morningscore Backlinks all links

You can also see the value of the linked websites (or how much authority they have). The value can be between 0-100.

Furthermore, you can see the links gained or lost in the last time:

Backlinks new and lost Morningscore

In order to rank all the websites in the world based on their relevance on the Internet (similar to how Google ranks websites), the Link Score is displayed. It compares your website with every other website around the world. Then you get a score based on how many strong links point to your website. The higher your link score, the easier it is to rank for competitive keywords.

What is a good link score?

There are 200 million active websites in the world. The strongest websites in the world have a link score of over 1 million. For example, if you work for a five-person design agency, your link score should be between 500 – 5,000. 5,000 would be a good ranking for your industry and company size. However, if you were working for a company with +500 employees and the linkscore was 500 or lower, that would be rather bad.

With Morningscore you can compare the link score of your website with your competitors. Very handy in my opinion.

Health

With this tool you can perform aSEO health check based on Google guidelines and get a clear overview of your on-page performance. All website problems are divided into three categories:

  • General ranking problems,
  • technical problems
  • and new optimization ideas.

In addition, the analyses can be divided into general health of the website and health of individual web pages or landing pages.

When you click on each problem, you get a detailed guide to help you solve the problem. This is a great thing in my opinion, because then you know exactly what to do. This is a really great thing, especially for SEO beginners, because here is described in detail what to do. An enormous help!

Traffic

In this Morningscore SEO tool you can see the organic traffic you (and your competitors) get per month through Google.

Far away the SEO Traffic Potential Graph z shows you how much traffic your competition gets on YOUR keywords. It is therefore a way to see how many of your keywords your competitors are trying to rank for and what positions they occupy.

Again, this gives you concrete clues for your own SEO measures. Because in case your rival gets more traffic than you, you should do the right SEO actions like adding infographics, building backlinks, optimizing and updating your content, etc.

The missions

Missions are tasks you can do within the tool to improve your SEO score. The missions can include onboarding tasks, ranking improvement suggestions for specific keywords, link suggestions or improvement suggestions for your on-site SEO.

These are either created automatically by the Morningscore tool or by yourself.

Current missions

For current missions you will see the following data:

  • The start date of the mission
  • The category of the mission. You can sort the categories in the menu.
  • A description of the mission
  • The current status in percent
  • And the “Return on Investment” once the mission is completed

Recommended missions

Recommended missions are automatically suggested by the tool and can be added to the current missions. In addition, a difficulty level for the mission is displayed on the left side.

As in the health check, you will again receive concrete instructions on how to implement the missions. These missions and the concrete instructions naturally ensure that you know exactly what to do and how to do it.

Since the missions are data-based and structured, it helps beginners in the SEO field to get an overview of which SEO measures you should implement next and especially how to do it. But also advanced SEOs can get structure back into their work through the Morningscore Missions, if they have lost the overview.

I think every SEO knows the feeling that sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees, right?

That’s why I find the Morningscore Missions a really great thing, which I have not seen in any other tool so far.

Reports

With Morningscore you can also create a detailed report about all the above aspects, which can be downloaded as a PDF or sent as a link and then viewed without login.

Who is Morningscore suitable for?

If you already consider yourself an SEO expert and work in a large company, it’s probably better if you have access to the premium products SEMrush or Ahrefs.

On the other hand, Morningscore is among a very good option for you if you are an SEO beginner or pure blogger or work in a small company and/or your budget for SEO tools is not that high.

Because exactly then you get with Morningscore everything you need at a very competitive price.

In addition, the in my eyes outstanding onboarding process should be emphasized, which unobtrusively shows you all the functions in detail after the first registration and gives you points for it. Once you have completed this “mission”, the Dark Theme is unlocked as a further incentive.

This is additionally supported by an individual and personal demo appointment, in which the friendly support (in German) shows you the software in detail and directly answers all questions.

This underlines in my eyes the beginner friendliness. Other companies can take an example from this.

Morningscore prices and costs

The Morningscore prices are very reasonable for what you get. You start with the Starter Plan, where you get all the basic features, including an analysis for 20 keywords and for 2 websites for only 22 Euros per month.

In addition, there are the Lite, Business and Pro Plan, which each include the same tools, but increase the parameters. For example, from 100 tracked keywords up to 2000.

And if you choose the annual billing, you can even save 20%.

Overall, the Morningscore costs are super competitive. The cheapest plans from SEMRush or Ahrefs are almost 5 times as expensive as the cheapest plan from Morningscore. Whereas these tools also have more in-depth features.

Compared to Mangools, Morningscore prices are in a roughly comparable level.

With such low prices, Morningscore is definitely an alternative to consider, especially if you are an SEO beginner or blogger with a limited budget, but still looking for appropriate useful features.

In addition, you can test Morningscore for 14 days extensively and 100% free of charge (without specifying a credit card!) to get your own impression of the SEO tool.

Morningscore Support

We usually expect very good support for online tools. But this is not always a matter of course.

Morningscore does not disappoint here.

Whenever I had a question, I got quick and helpful answers.

And that in German. Because Morningscore is one of the few premium SEO tools that also works in German and also has a German contact person to whom you can ask your questions.

What I particularly liked was the already mentioned onboarding process including a personal demo appointment, in which you go through the software together and get all questions answered directly.

Morningscore Support

We usually expect very good support for online tools. But that in particular is not always a given.

Morningscore does not disappoint here.

Whenever I had a question, I got lightning-fast, helpful answers.

And that in German. Because Morningscore is one of the few premium SEO tools that also works in German and also has a German contact person to whom you can ask your questions.

What I particularly liked was the already mentioned onboarding process including a personal demo appointment, in which you go through the software together and get all questions answered directly.

While this shouldn’t be the most important criteria when choosing SEO tools, I think it’s helpful to know that you can always reach out for help if you need it.

Morningscore Updates

What I also haven’t seen that often with other tools is a concrete update plan. On their website they show in detail what you can expect as the next improvement in Morningscore. And as you can read, there is a lot to come. This makes Morningscore really exciting, especially for the future.

How does Morningscore compare to tools like SEMrush, AHrefs & Moz?

The difference is quite simple to explain.

Tools like SEMrush and Moz work like a database. Essentially, you get access to their data and it’s up to you what you can do with that data. In other words, you already need to have some level of understanding of SEO. That’s why these tools are aimed at SEO experts.

In comparison, Morningscore works to guide you through your SEO tasks.

While SEO experts may find the platform somewhat limited, that’s partly because of the focus they want to place on important things. Put simply, they want to “trim the fat” and leave you with only the “filet mignon” of SEO. Morningscore is a tool to implement, as it shows you exactly what needs to be improved (and there’s no guesswork involved).

Nevertheless, you should look at corresponding Morningscore alternatives to be able to rank this tool as well.

Morningscore alternatives

As already mentioned, Moz, SEMRusch or Ahrefs are Morningscore alternatives purely on paper, but due to the different focus and above all the almost 5 times higher prices in the cheapest plan, they are then de facto not.

The only alternative to Morningscore that plays in a similar price range is in my eyes Mangools with KWFinder as the main feature. Mangools is an SEO software suite, a comprehensive SEO package that consists of five individual SEO tools, the so-called “apps”.

Overall, I find the Mangools SEO tools very useful and also quite affordable for the benefits offered.

My favorites that are used daily are the KWFinder, the SERPWatcher and the SERPChecker. Especially the KWFinder has a lot more key figures in the Keword research, which I am currently still missing with Morningscore. Also the direct integration of the SERPChecker helps very well to get appropriate keyword ideas.

However, compared to Morningscore, Mangools and Keyword Finder lack missions, detailed instructions, and most importantly, Morningscore. Price-wise, both alternatives are in a similar range.

That’s why I recommend Mangools to advanced SEOs who need less guidance but more in-depth keyword analysis, and Morningscore SEO Tools to beginners.

By the way, you can read my detailed experience report about Mangools here.

Morningscore Test & Experience 2022: What I liked

Here are the things in the Morningscore SEO tool that I liked the most:

  • Ease of use: Morningscore has a very user-friendly intuitive design.
  • The helpful onboarding process: which shows you all the functions in detail after the first registration (bonus: dark theme activation) incl. an individual and personal demo appointment, in which the friendly support (in German) shows you the software in detail for free and answers all your questions directly.
  • Value: from 22 euros per month for a feature-rich tool like Morningscore is a really great offer, which is looking for its equal.
  • The area-wide incorporated competition analysis, which gives even more orientation at every point.
  • The Morningscore and the Missions: Unique Features. The Morningscore is very well suited to evaluate the own SEO activities and the missions including detailed instructions help to keep the Überbleick and to know what to do next. Great!

Morningscore experience & test 2022: What I did not like

Now it’s time to highlight a few things that I think Morningscore could do better.

  • The keyword rank tracker doesn’t have many sophisticated features yet. There is certainly still room for improvement here
  • Important key figures for keyword research are (still) missing, especially for keyword analysis. For example a detailed keyword difficulty or similar metrics.

Conclusion – Morningscore experiences and test 2022

Morningscore gives you the combined data from the best tools available at a third of the price of other tools. This is a great thing in my opinion.

Morningscore Experience Test

Their motto is #MakeSenseOfSEO. Following this, Morningscore summarizes the important things and simplifies them to make them more understandable for non-SEOs and to give SEO gurus an overview with useful insights.

In my eyes, it succeeds very well.

Morningscore is with an unbeatable price/performance ratio in my eyes currently one of the best SEO tools for SEO beginners and bloggers, because it is on the one hand cheap and on the other hand a tool to implement, because it shows you exactly what to do. And exactly that is missing in other, often much more expensive tools.

Therefore I can and will recommend Morningscore SEO Tool.

I hope you enjoyed my previous Morningscore experiences and that they were helpful for you.

That convinced you? Here you can test Morningscore free of charge and without obligation for 14 days.
