iPhone 14 Pro – no notch, but also no round hole in the screen

The latest information from a well-known leaker with very high credibility indicates that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be devoid of the notch, and its place will be replaced not by a round, but a small, elongated cutout in the screen.

iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max with “pill-shaped cutout”

Yesterday on Twitter, a well-known leaker nicknamed Dylandkt tweeted the news that the top two models of this year’s flagship, namely the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, will indeed not have a screen cutout, according to previous leaks.

However, contrary to earlier reports that the notch will be replaced by a “punch hole,” which is a circular cutout in the screen, Dylandtk claims that the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will feature a “pill-shaped cutout,” which is a small oblong hole rounded at the ends.

The vast majority of Face ID components are expected to go under the screen, which Dylandtk assures won’t negatively affect the performance of Apple’s facial recognition system.

The aforementioned elongated hole in the screen will be rather small and intended mainly for the camera lens itself and, I believe, the dot projector from which the Face ID system creates a map of the user’s face.

The screen hole is expected to be found exclusively on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Leaks suggest that the cheaper models, namely the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will still have the notch.
