In his latest newsletter, well-known and respected Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman reports that this year, and especially in its second half, Apple will unveil and launch the biggest array of new hardware products in the company’s history. Let’s see exactly which devices we’re talking about.
Apple’s hardware novelties in the first half of 2022.
According to Gurman, but also other informants, we will see the first hardware novelties already in the spring, more precisely in March or April at the first Apple conference. A certainty here is the iPhone SE 3 with 5G connectivity and the A 15 Bionic chip.
In addition, at the same event we may see the iPad Air 5th generation with A15 Bionic and probably a redesigned Mac mini with M1 Pro/ M1 Max chips.
Apple hardware news in the second half of 2022
Apple’s second six months of this year promise to be even more interesting. Let’s start with the “standard” annual premieres that the company from Cupetino has accustomed us to.
There will be four new iPhones 14 (iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max).
Then not two, but three new watches – Apple Watch Series 8, the new Apple Watch SE and a complete novelty: Apple Watch in “Explorer” version, that is, with a reinforced design, designed for physically active people.
In addition, we’ll see a new version of the entry-level MacBook Pro (which is currently the 2020 MBP 13″ with M1) and a heavily redesigned MacBook Air with a mini-LED screen in Fall/Winter 2022.
There will also be a new Mac Pro with Apple’s ultra-efficient Silicon chip and a new iMac 27″, the successor to the iMac Pro, with the M1 Pro/M1 Max processor (additionally, a leaker nicknamed Dylandkt has reported that Apple also has one 27″ iMac model in development with a 12 CPU core processor that surpasses the capabilities of the M1 Pro/ M1 Max).
In addition, we are expected to see a new budget iPad in the fall, as well as a new iPad Pro with an M2 chip and MagSafe wireless charging.
The last news is expected to be the 2nd generation AirPods Pro headphones with support for Lossless (ALAC) format, a new design and a speaker case.
